Castle Senior Living offers assisted living in New Berlin and Mukwonago for older adults who want help with parts of the day and independence with the rest. Residents get support with things like medications, bathing, and meals, with a registered nurse on call 24 hours a day. Our communities are small and residential, so staff know every resident by name.
Kevin and Kris Kiefer started Castle in 1992 because they believed older adults deserve care in a real home, from people who know them. Our family still runs Castle today. Whether you’re planning ahead for yourself or helping a parent, we’d be glad to show you around.

How is assisted living personalized for each resident?
Personalized assisted living starts with getting to know the person, including their goals for this next chapter.
- We get to know your loved one: their health, their daily routines, and what matters most to them.
- Our nurse and care team write an individualized care plan focused on wellness, injury prevention, and quality of life.
- Caregivers follow the plan each day and encourage residents to keep doing what they can on their own.
- We review the plan regularly, adjust it as needs change, and keep your family informed along the way.
We also run a formal feedback program with anonymous surveys and quality reviews, so residents and families have a real say in how we care.
What’s daily life like in our assisted living community?
Days at Castle feel more like home than a schedule. Meals are cooked in our own kitchen and adapted to each resident’s tastes and dietary needs. Our Lifestyles Activity Program, led by a Nationally Certified Activity Director, fills the calendar with exercise, music, pet visits, and social time, and residents join in as much or as little as they like.
Plenty of residents also keep up the routines they had before moving in, whether that’s a morning walk or a standing visit from the grandkids.
“Our Aunt has been at Grand Castle Senior Living for almost two months now, and each staff member we meet is so kind, helpful, and truly genuine! There has been great communication and sincere care for our Aunt! Thank you, Castle, for making this move a bit easier with your welcoming support!” – T. Anderson
Where can I find assisted living in New Berlin and Mukwonago?
Both of our communities are in Waukesha County, a short drive from Milwaukee and the western suburbs. Each one is small enough to feel like a neighborhood, with the services of a full senior care community.
The Grand Hills Castle, New Berlin
Assisted living in New Berlin, WI, in a home-like residential setting.
Birchrock Castle Community, Mukwonago
Assisted living in Mukwonago, WI, on a 17-acre campus that also offers independent living apartments and townhomes.
What happens if care needs change?
Needs change, sometimes slowly and sometimes all at once. Castle offers every level of care, from independent living to hospice, so a change in health doesn’t mean starting over somewhere new.
If your loved one begins to need more support with memory, our Certified Dementia Practitioner designed our memory care program, A Smile to Remember. If the time comes for end-of-life care, Castle’s own hospice team can provide it in the home your loved one already knows
How do families pay for assisted living?
Cost matters, and we’re happy to talk about it openly from the first call. Families at Castle often use a mix of:
- Private savings or proceeds from the sale of a home
- Long-term care insurance
- Veterans benefits
- Wisconsin’s Family Care program or Medicaid, accepted at many of our communities
Our leases are month-to-month, so you’re never locked into a long contract. Contact us, and we’ll be happy to walk through the options with you.
