At Castle Senior Living, we continually seek innovative ways to enrich the lives of our residents, ensuring they enjoy not just comfort and care, but also the freedom and joy that life has to offer. We are excited to announce that Birchrock Castle Community has partnered with Cycling Without Age, a global movement that allows seniors to experience the joys of cycling, even if they can no longer pedal on their own.
What is Cycling Without Age?
Cycling Without Age started in 2012 in Denmark with a simple but powerful idea: to bring elderly citizens back into the community, allowing them to feel the wind in their hair and reconnect with the world outside their care facilities. This is achieved through specially designed trishaws, or three-wheeled bikes, that allow volunteer pilots to take senior passengers on scenic rides around their communities. The program has since spread worldwide, with thousands of trishaws on the road and countless smiles shared.
Why We Chose to Partner
At Birchrock Castle, we understand the importance of staying active and engaged, not just physically but emotionally and socially as well. Partnering with Cycling Without Age aligns perfectly with our mission to provide holistic, person-centered care. The program allows our residents to get out and about, enjoy fresh air, and take in the sights and sounds of our beautiful local surroundings.
These bike rides do more than just get our residents out of the house; they offer a chance to reminisce about old times, share stories, and build new relationships with both their peers and the volunteers who pilot the trishaws. The sense of community this program fosters is invaluable, and we’re thrilled to bring this unique experience to Birchrock Castle.
At Castle Senior Living, we believe in living life to the fullest at every age. Our partnership with Cycling Without Age is just one of the many ways we strive to bring joy, freedom, and a sense of adventure to our residents.
We look forward to many more rides, smiles, and stories as we continue to enhance the lives of those who call Birchrock Castle home.
